Things are marching forward for the new ‘G.I. Joe’ movie, which has Danny McBride aboard to co-write and direct based on a successful pitch he made to Paramount.
And he’s landed quite the star to anchor the film, as Deadline brings intel that Bradley Cooper has made a deal to play Duke, AKA First Sergeant Conrad S. Hauser, leader of the Joes.
It’s a big get for McBride (though not too shocking since Cooper appeared on his show ‘The Righteous Gemstones’, who has co-written the script with Jeff Fradley (‘Halloween’) and John Carcieri (‘Eastbound & Down’).

What’s the story of the new ‘G.I. Joe’ movie?

Paramount has the specific plot details locked in a vault for now, but you can bet it’ll feature a high-stakes mission for the military force, including the likes of Duke (played in the first two movies by Channing Tatum), Roadblock and Snake Eyes.
And given the hit-or-miss fortunes of the previous three cinematic efforts (the most recent, spin-off ‘Snake Eyes’ in 2021, really didn’t add much glory), a fresh start might be what this needs.
What else is Bradley Cooper working on?

Cooper is a busy man right now. He’s in production in Europe on the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ prequel alongside Margot Robbie, which he’s written and directing.
He’s also attached to Sean Penn’s new January 6th drama and worked on Bong Joon Ho’s new animated adventure ‘Ally’.
