Bloodborne. It’s still not on PC and doesn’t look to be getting a remake which might bring it to PC any time soon. There is some good news, though. Sony have announced an animated film adaptation of the game about crimson juice and goths in hats is in the works.

The movie’s been announced by Sony Pictures, who’ll be making it with PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation as co-producers. Also co-producing is YouTuber Seán ‘Jacksepticeye’ McLoughlin, whom I know best via clips of him shouting at a man on a segway in flash game Happy Wheels – a secondary school lunchtime staple which really should have been treated to a graphically orgasmic Unreal Engine 5 remake by now.

Bloodborne on the big screen’s set to be an animated flick, though it’ll have an R rating so that all of the titular blood doesn’t have to be replaced by Nickelodeon-esque green goo. There aren’t any details on the plot yet, but McLoughlin has taken to Reddit to emphasise that he’ll be endeavouring to make sure it’s very Bloodborney. “I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible,” he wrote. “Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it.”

So yeah, he does this for you, ravenous Bloodborne horde. If nothing else, the movie’s existence is proof that Bloodborne can be delivered to places that aren’t Sony’s consoles if the company are willing. Actually, on second thought, I’m not sure if that’s reassuring or infuriating if you’ve been yearning for an official version of the game on PC for years now.

To be fair, there are always mods and plenty of other Bloodborney indie projects to look into if you’re desperate to get a taste of the game on our game box of choice.
