GOTTA HAVE IT: Matthieu Blazy has sparked such a craze for Chanel that some of his handbag designs now sell for more secondhand than they do at retail, according to Fashionphile’s 2026 report, which will be published Wednesday.
Luxury re-commerce platform Fashionphile, which trades in pre-owned designer handbags, shoes, watches, fine jewelry and accessories, said secondhand buyers have been paying 13 percent above the retail price for the Chanel Souplissimo and the Archetype Tote, and 15 percent above retail for the Chanel Urban Essential bags.
The new Fashionphile report is loaded with data on the platform’s sellers in 2026, and also offers insight into the year’s generational, geographical and style trends.
In terms of bags, Louis Vuitton’s Speedy bag was the top seller for the second year in a row, and its value increased by 16.2 percent year-over-year. The Chanel Double Flap held its spot in second place, while the Prada Re-Edition climbed the ranks from eighth to third.
The Goyard Saint Louis entered the top 10 ranking at number seven, bumping the Celine Ava off the list entirely, according to the report. There were some surprises in the rankings, too, with the Fendi Spy bag seeing a 127 percent spike in average resale value amid this year’s Y2K revival.

The top three shoes were the Hermès Oran sandals, followed by the Gucci Ace sneakers and the Louis Vuitton Star Trail Ankle Boots. The three biggest selling watches were the Hermès Clipper, followed by the Cartier Panthère and the Gucci Interchangeable Bezel.
Hermès also placed number one in earrings. Fashionphile said the “undisputed studs of 2026” were the Hermès Farandoles, followed by the Louis Vuitton Louise hoops and the Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra studs.
Cartier topped the ring category with the Love sweeping into first place, followed by the Hermès Chaine d’Ancre Enchainee and the Chanel Coco Crush. Van Cleef & Arpels dominated the bracelet category, with its Vintage Alhambra taking first place followed by the Hermès Clic Clac and the Cartier Love.
Fashionphile is based in the U.S. and sells internationally online and in retail locations and has a longstanding partnership with Neiman Marcus.
