Best new Xbox Game Pass games to play on Memorial Day Weekend

Go fast and furious in the new Forza

May is a stacked month for new games, and Xbox Game Pass’ first and second waves of new titles this month are no exception. Mixtape has been loved by nostalgic millennials, while Forza Horizon 6 is already looking like one of the best games of the year.

With Memorial Day on Monday, a holiday weekend is the best time to get some bonus gaming hours in. Here are three of the best games that landed on Xbox Game Pass this week.

1

Forza Horizon 6

The only racing games I typically play are silly kart racers where I throw bombs around or spin attack opponents as Kirby. But, as someone who grew up on a steady diet of anime, learning there would be a Gundam race in Forza Horizon 6 sold me on the new racer. It takes drivers to a cherry-blossom-filled Japan — I mean, just look at that gorgeous screenshot up top — for high-speed racing. Forza Horizon 6 isn’t just full of cool cars, but cool Easter eggs too.

2

Luna Abyss

While plenty of first-person shooters are multiplayer-focused, Luna Abyss is a new single-player, story-driven shooter that combines kinetic bullet hell action and fast-paced platforming. It’s set in some creepy-ass old ruins on a “mimic moon” that’s bright red. Not freaky at all! Discover what mysteries those ruins hold while blasting cosmically horrifying enemies in the face.

3

Remnant 2

But maybe you want to shoot horrific enemies with buddies instead? Remnant 2 features solo or co-op third-person shootin’ action. Its environments and enemies are also mad frightening as you play as the last remnants of humanity in deadly battles against creatures that belong in Dark Souls. It combines elements of looter shooters and Soulslikes to make for one very intense adventure.
