Ben Dwarshuis: Australia left-armer withdrawn from Worcestershire T20 spell

Left-arm seamer Ben Dwarshuis will not be joining Worcestershire for this season’s T20 Blast after being withdrawn by Cricket Australia.

The 31-year-old was set for a third stint at New Road in 2026 but has now been made unavailable to “manage his workload”.

Dwarshuis has played 13 T20 internationals and six ODIs for Australia but was not named in their provisional squad for the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and India next month.

Australia also have white-ball tours in Pakistan and Bangladesh scheduled for June.

Dwarshuis will return to the Indian Premier League this year after being signed by Punjab Kings.

The IPL gets under way in late March and runs until the end of May.

“While we’re naturally disappointed that Ben won’t be joining us this summer, we completely understand and respect Cricket Australia’s decision to prioritise his long-term workload management,” Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles said., external

“Ben has worked incredibly hard to earn his opportunities at the highest level and we congratulate him on securing his IPL deal.”

Worcestershire said they have begun work on finding a replacement overseas player for this summer’s Blast.
