Former Chicago Bears linebacker and Super Bowl champion Otis Wilson was involved in an altercation with security personnel following the Bears’ 23-12 victory over the New York Jets at Soldier Field. The incident came a day before the Bears released former first-round pick Marcus Davenport.

Wilson was at the stadium as an official Bears ambassador and made two pregame appearances before the confrontation occurred.

After the game, Wilson and his wife, Tina Wilson, entered a Suite Level A elevator used by credentialed media members heading to the locker room and postgame press conference. A female security officer told them they were not authorized to use the elevator and asked them to leave.

Tina Wilson exited, while the female officer tried to get Otis Wilson out. A male security officer then joined her. The elevator doors closed, and nearby reporters said they heard a loud noise from inside. When the doors reopened, the female officer was on the floor.

A softball-sized hole was later seen in the wall opposite the elevator. Wilson was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was evaluated and released that night. The female officer was also taken to a hospital.

Wilson said he never had the chance to identify himself as a former Bears player or explain why he and his wife were there before the confrontation turned physical. He said, “Before being able to identify myself as a former Chicago Bears player and attempt to explain why we were there, a security guard approached us and the guard physically assaulted my wife.”

Monterrey Security disputed his account. The company said Wilson was not wearing credentials and had been directed to another elevator bank. Monterrey Security alleged that he then forced his way into the elevator and became physically combative. Its official statement said, “He aggressively threw the female officer into a wall, leaving a large hole in the wall.”

The company said the officer is 5-foot-4, an off-duty law enforcement officer who has worked at Soldier Field since 2024, and suffered bruising and other injuries to her ribs and arms.

Wilson claimed that his wife was physically confronted first and that two security contractors then became involved with him. Chicago police said officers responded to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, took a report and opened an investigation.

Investigation continues as Otis Wilson seeks footage

Chicago police continue to review the case, and the report filed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital remains part of the inquiry.

Wilson has asked for surveillance and body-camera footage to be preserved. He said, “I am asking the Chicago Park District and its security contractor, Monterrey Security, to preserve all surveillance and body camera footage of the incident.”

Investigators are also reviewing the injuries reported by Wilson and the security officer, as well as the hole found in the wall near the elevator.

The Chicago Bears have not publicly commented on the matter.

Wilson and Monterrey Security have provided conflicting accounts of the confrontation, which remains under investigation by Chicago police.
