Arsenal Identify This Atletico Madrid Forward As A Target: Should Arteta Go For Him?

In a recent report, Cadena Ser claimed that Arsenal have identified Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as a target for this summer transfer window. It has been mentioned that the Gunners would have to compete with Barcelona in the race to sign the Argentina international, who prefers a move to the Catalan club this off-season.

Alvarez’s Impressive Numbers In La Liga Last Season

Alvarez had another impressive campaign at the Madrid club as he was responsible for putting in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The 26-year-old scored 20 goals and picked up nine assists in 49 matches for Diego Simeone’s side last season across all fronts.

The Argentine talent is currently one of the most feared strikers in La Liga. Thus, the Gunners would do well to bring him to the Emirates Stadium in this summer transfer period.

His current contract with Atletico Madrid will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Arsenal to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go For Alvarez?

Alvarez is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few decent chances in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Argentine talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. Alvarez is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a wide player if asked to do so. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to adjust to life in England if the Gunners manage to snap him up this summer.

We can expect Alvarez to inject more quality into Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting place at the North London club next season.

At 26, Alvarez has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a dream signing for Arteta to consider this summer. However, the Argentine talent prefers a move to Barcelona, so the Gunners would be wise to focus on some of their other targets if they fail to convince him to join this off-season.
