With work underway on ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’ (with Andy Serkis both in the director’s chair and the performance capture suit as the titular ring-addicted troublemaker), a new piece of casting has now arrived.

Anya Taylor-Joy (‘The Witch’) is the latest to join the ensemble, playing Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil (Lee Pace).

What’s the story of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’?

The new film follows Aragorn’s perilous quest to capture Gollum before the creature can reveal the Ring’s location to Sauron.

The story, much of it developed from author J.R.R. Tolkien’s footnotes, is set between ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Fellowship of the Ring.’

Jamie Dornan is taking over the Aragorn/Strider role for this movie, while the cast is a mx of returning ‘Rings’ veterans (Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and the aforementioned Pace) and new recruits, including Dornan, Kate Winslet and Leo Woodall.

‘The Hunt for Gollum’ has staked out a December 17, 2027 release slot.
