Anushka Sharma will lead India A women’s T20 squad while Yastika Bhatia will captain the one-day and multi-day teams for the upcoming home games against Australia A. Anushka, 23, had also captained the India A T20 team to a 2-1 series win against England A in June. Anushka has been named Bhatia’s deputy for the one-day and four-day games.
Sixteen-year-old batter Deeya Yadav, who has featured for Delhi Capitals in the WPL and played for India A in two T20s against England A in Northampton in June, however, wasn’t picked in any of the squads that will face Australia A. The T20 squad has two seam-bowling allrounders in Jintimani Kalita and Simran Bahadur.
Former India Under-19 captain Niki Prasad was picked in all three squads. She broke into the T20 squad after leading Hubli Tigers to the Maharani T20 title recently.
Harleen Deol was not part of the one-day squad after captaining them in the one-day leg of the UK tour in June. Left-arm wristspin-bowling allrounder Amandeep Kaur, meanwhile, earned her maiden India A call-up. The 23-year-old was selected only in the one-day squad.
Shubha Satheesh, who has played two Tests for India, found a place in the squad for the four-dayer in Dharamsala from September 29 to October 2. New Chandigarh will host the first three T20s on September 12, 15 and 17 while the PCA Stadium in Mohali will stage the three one-dayers on September 20, 23 and 25.
