Announcement of new diplomatic appointments


July 14, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:

Andrea Clements will become Consul General in Detroit (United States of America). Ms. Clements will replace Colin Bird, and she will take up her appointment in the coming weeks.

The Honourable Kamal Khera will become Consul General in Los Angeles (United States of America). Ms. Khera replaces Zaib Shaikh, and interim Consul Sylvie Bedard. Ms. Khera will take up her appointment in the coming weeks.

Claire Kennedy will become Consul General in Chicago (United States of America). Ms. Kennedy will replace Madeleine Féquière, and she will take up her appointment in the coming weeks.

Susannah Pierce will become Consul General in New York (United States of America). Ms. Pierce will replace Tom Clark, and she will take up her appointment in the coming weeks.
