Announcement of new diplomatic appointments


July 9, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:

Sharon Armstrong will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Senegal. Ms. Armstrong will replace Marcel Lebleu.

Evelyne Dabiré will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Benin. Ms. Dabiré will replace Tina Guthrie.

Kevin Rex will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania. Mr. Rex will replace Gavin Buchan.
