Announcement of new diplomatic appointment


June 23, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointment:

Mazen Mahfouz will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Ecuador. Mr. Mahfouz will replace Craig Kowalik, and he will take up his appointment in the coming months.
