Think Allegiant Air, think Florida. For obvious reasons, the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) revolves around the Sunshine State. In 2026, the airline’s schedule submission to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, shows that a whopping 64% of its flights will touch Florida.

Allegiant serves 12 airports in the Alligator State, which is more than anywhere else. On a typical day this year, an average of 115 departures will occur. Inevitably, the variation is enormous for the point-to-point, leisure-driven operator. As few as seven departures are available on September 15, to as many as 190 on December 23.

Allegiant Has Cut 15 Routes From Destin & Fort Lauderdale

The ULCC’s schedule between January 2025 and August 2026 was compared to routes scheduled between September 2026 and May 2027, which is as far as Allegiant’s schedule currently extends. This process identified that a total of 41 routes have been removed, some more recently than others. 15 are from Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

They are outlined below. The list represents what is known as of September 10 and may change. Flights from VPS to Minneapolis, FLL to Columbia, and FLL to Norfolk ended because Allegiant has pulled out of those airports completely. It’ll return to Minneapolis through its acquisition of Sun Country.

With so many markets from VPS ceasing in August 2026, it’d be easy to conclude that Allegiant will simply return. However, all routes have been removed from the ULCC’s booking engine. In the 12 months to May 2026, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that three of them (Asheville, Huntington, and Lexington) had an average load factor of between 65.0% and 68.7%. Ouch.
