After learning in May that a New York Knicks-inspired Air Jordan 8 Retro would arrive this holiday season, official Nike e-commerce images of the new release have surfaced.

Originally expected to take inspiration from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the upcoming Air Jordan 8 Retro is instead unofficially themed after the reigning NBA champions. The style makes it clear with its Black/Safety Orange/Racer Blue color combination, which appears in classic blocking reminiscent of the model’s Chicago Bulls-colored Playoffs look.

The sneaker is built with a black nubuck upper and is accented across its midsole with Knicks colors, including at the brushstroke-patterned TPU heel counter. An orange heel tab is matched with metallic blue loops on the Air Jordan 8’s strap closure, while the model’s signature chenille tongue opts for all-blue with an orange Jumpman.

Unique to the Knick Air Jordan 8 Retro is special throwback shoebox packaging featuring Michael Jordan’s face which is rendered in blue rather than its typical silver look.

Even prior to the Knicks’ championship win, Nike has referenced Jordan’s history with the New York team on several occasions. In 2013, Jordan Brand released a Knicks Air Jordan 1 tied to Carmelo Anthony followed by a New York-colored Air Jordan 3 in 2019, the latter of which was rereleased for preorder in celebration of the team’s championship win. And in 2027, the brand will reissue the Knicks Air Jordan 10 for the first time ever along with introducing a new Knicks Air Jordan 2.

The Air Jordan 8 Retro Knicks will be released Dec. 24 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers for an expected retail price of $215. The sneaker’s full colorway is Black/Safety Orange/Racer Blue and its style code is IX8479-010.
