Air Jordan 14 Retro ‘Forest Green’ Release Date 487471-300

The Air Jordan 14 is one of the most unique models in Michael Jordan’s four-decade-plus signature sneaker line. Soon, it will return in a fittingly unique colorway.

Unlike many of the shoes worn by Jordan during his record-setting time with the Chicago Bulls, the Air Jordan 14 wasn’t worn over the course of a full NBA season. Instead, Jordan would debut the shoes during the end of the 1998 postseason, waiting until the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz to phase out the Air Jordan 13 and begin wearing the Air Jordan 14’s black-and-red style.

As the legend goes, designer Tinker Hatfield had given Jordan a prototype and forbade him from wearing it, but Jordan liked the shoes so much he played in them anyway, including during the series-clinching final shot, which earned the colorway its “Last Shot” nickname.

With its on-the-nose Ferrari-inspired details, the Air Jordan 14 leaned into sports car inspiration — now a staple of athletic footwear design — more than any model that preceded it. It also featured a number of novel original colorways including Bulls-themed styles and low-top lifestyle looks. One of the sneaker’s more obscure styles, 2005’s one-off Forest Green iteration, will soon receive its first reissue more than 20 years after it was first seen at retail.

The Air Jordan 14 Retro Forest maintains all of the original details seen on the 2005 release including a white base, which combines smooth leather at the toe and heel with a tumbled leather featuring perforations and ribbed stitching at the side panels. As the sneaker’s nickname suggests, a dark green is the highlight color, filling in the jagged midsole, Jumpman badge and suede heel hit. Preserving the original look, the pair includes a Light Graphite gray on the upper tongue and at its heel branding.

Set for a Halloween release, the Air Jordan 14 Retro Forest Green will be released Oct. 31 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers in men’s sizing (style code 487471-300) for $215 with grade school sizes (style code 487524-300) priced at $155. It’s worth noting that the full colorway has been renamed Gorge Green/Light Graphite/White/Light Graphite.
