Air Canada is preparing to launch a new nonstop transatlantic route between Montreal and Dublin using the Airbus A321XLR, marking one of the carrier’s most significant narrowbody long-haul expansions in recent years. According to schedule data published by AeroRoutes, the airline plans to begin the service in May 2027, with the aircraft operating the approximately eight-hour sector between Montréal–Trudeau International Airport(YUL) and Dublin Airport(DUB). The route is currently scheduled to operate four times weekly.

The planned service represents a renewed commitment to a market Air Canada had temporarily pulled back from in earlier planning cycles. The airline had previously intended to operate Montreal to Dublin flights in 2026, but those schedules were later removed from reservation systems. The route has now reappeared for the 2027 summer season, this time tied specifically to the A321XLR, an aircraft designed to open thinner long-haul routes with lower operating costs than traditional widebody jets. Between May and December 2026, the airline is expected to operate the route using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with Airbus A330-300 aircraft also scheduled periodically depending on operational requirements and seasonal demand patterns.
