Now that you have more room to actually do laundry, freshen up the décor with something more cheerful. I’m always a fan of simple white cabinets in a laundry room. If it’s in the budget and you really want the room to shine, a Carrera counter would be a great choice since it’s impervious to water, although a stainless-steel counter would also be super cool. I would be tempted to tile the entire room in Carrera or white subway tile to give it the feel of an elegant, old-school laundry room. You could even frame oversized Belle Epoque prints to hang on the wall opposite the doorway, with a huge rolling hamper bin to shuffle laundry from one side of the room to the other. And if you’re going all out anyway, why not add a wall-mounted TV or iPad to the room to have something to look at while ironing and folding clothes. If you play your cards right, this could be the place everyone wants to hang out in.
