A Lego replica of the original PlayStation will be available next month

A Lego replica of the original Playstation was just revealed at the Sony State of Play, and it’ll be available to order starting next month.

At 1:1 scale and featuring 1,911 individual pieces, this build will feature an openable disc tray, pressable buttons, and various easter eggs including lovely little Ape Escape and Gran Turismo dioramas. It also comes with a lego PlayStation 1 controller which you can build alongside the brick console for a fancy collectors piece.

Those Dioramas can be pulled out of the console and displayed separately for those who’d prefer to do so. It’s a nice touch, especially given we’ve not seen Ape Escape or Gran Turismo get much love in recent years. There are apparently, according to the PlayStation Blog accompanying this reveal, other hidden secrets within this set worth looking out for.

This collaboration was announced as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of PlayStation, and it’ll be available to buy via Playstation Direct on the 1st October for those in the U.S, U.K, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. It’ll also be available through Lego Insiders early access and in all Lego stores starting on the 4th October.

As for its price, this Lego replica will retail for £139.99 in the UK / €159.99 in Europe / $179.99 (including tax) in the US.

Sony is far from the only gaming giant to partner with Lego. Nintendo has collaborated for Lego sets for a few years now, with a Donkey Kong set seemingly leaked recently. Microsoft, on the other hand, has instead recently partnered with Mattel Brick Shop for an original Xbox build, which while a little “we have Lego at home”, does look rather snazzy.

This isn’t the only collectors item announced during the State of Play. Limited edition Grand Theft Auto 6 PS5 controllers were also revealed, and will be available to order later this month.
