CD Projekt Red has released an update for The Witcher 3 Remastered on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, making “various stability improvements to help ensure a more reliable experience” to the game. And those are the entire patch notes for hotfix 5.01b, Eurogamer understands.
The update has drawn some concern from players waiting for the promised Switch 2 Witcher 3 update, prompting the studio to reassure people on X that: “We’re working on getting the Nintendo Switch 2 patch to all users as soon as possible.” That Switch 2 patch is said to improve visual “clarity and sharpness” in the game.

CD Projekt Red has been busy addressing issues with the Remastered edition of The Witcher 3 since it was released two weeks ago. It’s a transformative update, significantly altering the game’s visuals while also changing animations, skills, and even some gameplay. Given its breadth – and that it’s free and occurring 11 years after the game’s release – I called The Witcher 3 Remastered an extraordinarily generous upgrade after playing it, though the game’s audience isn’t entirely happy. Some feel it made the game too bright, though this aspect has been addressed in patches since release.
Incidentally, Digital Foundry has now chimed into the performance discussion with a full appraisal of The Witcher 3 Remastered on PC, complete with optimised settings suggestions. DF is also tracking the various changes being made to path tracing in the game, which so far is enormously system-heavy.
The Witcher 3 Remastered raises the game’s visual standards ahead of the new Songs of the Past expansion arriving next year. This will bring a beautiful new region to explore, dozens of hours of gameplay, and a story revolving around Geralt’s musical pal Dandelion and family. Dom had a chance to see Songs of the Past at Gamescom and came away impressed.
