On Saturday night at West Hollywood’s The Abbey, Chappell Roan made an appearance to show her support for the Second Annual National PrEP Day celebration. Roan is certainly no stranger to bold fashion choices, evident in her look for the evening. She was on trend right down to her toes, sporting a pair of shiny black pumps worn with latex thigh-high socks.

Roan opted for an arresting wardrobe choice while setting foot in the historic Los Angeles gay bar. She came dressed in a strapless Vex Latex x Christian Cowan latex minidress. The outfit featured horizontal stripes in burgundy and mustard yellow and was paired with shoulder length gloves in a matching pattern.

Roan’s socks were in the same shade of burgundy and paired well with her similarly shiny black pumps with a spiked heel. Her normal mass of curly red hair was straightened for the night and she added an extra touch of flash with a bit of light blue eye shadow. All in all, the look was par for the course for Roan, well-known for her penchant for eye-catching attire.
Socks and pumps are currently having something of a moment in the fashion world. The combination was seen all over Copenhagen fashion week this past August and surfaced again in September during London Fashion Week. The look is often a form of power clashing, boldly-patterned shoes often paired with equally-vivacious socks to create a showy wardrobe choice. While Roan eschewed power-clashing that night, sticking to solid-colored socks, she still stood out with her lustrous latex ensemble.

National PrEP Day was founded by the tele-health platform MISTR in 2025. The day is meant to both raise awareness of and celebrate the titular groundbreaking HIV-prevention medication. PrEP, which stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, helps prevent HIV-infection after an individual is exposed to the virus. Roan was not the only celebrity to show up in support of the celebration. Others attendees included Emily Ratajkowski, Charli xcx, Christina Aguilera, and Demi Lovato.
