Halo officially returns in 2 weeks with new release

Bungie’s bestselling military science fiction FPS, Halo, has spawned an impressive amount of content over the years since Halo: Combat Evolved was released for the Xbox in 2001. Debuting alongside Halo was the franchise’s first tie-in novel, The Fall of the Reach, by Eric Nylund. Since then, there have been more than 30 novels written by a host of authors set in the wildly popular Halo universe.

In addition to those more than 30 novels, there are graphic novels and, of course, more than a dozen Halo games to play. But if you still haven’t had enough of the adventures of Master Chief on the ringworld, there’s great news. On the horizon is Halo: Parasite’s Wake, the newest Halo novel from Gallery Books, written by New York Times-bestselling author, Tim Lebbon, which releases in two weeks, on October 20. Tim Lebbon is the award-winning author of dark fantasy, thriller, and horror novels such as The Silence as well as novelizations of films and other media series like Alien, Hellboy, and Firefly.

In Parasite’s Wake, the year is 2552 and things have gone sideways on the planet Reach, which has just fallen to the alien alliance, the Covenant. The UNSC Pillar of Autumn, a human ship, escapes the Covenant into slipspace and ends up at the series’ eponymous ringworld, Halo. The novel doesn’t feature Master Chief John-117, but instead follows Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto, the leader of a colorful squad of drunks, deserters, and murderers, who survived in the brig when the Autumn crashed. He struggles to keep these criminals in check all while fighting off zealous Covenant warriors. Parasite’s Wake also promises an even more terrible threat that’s brewing in the hellish Halo underworld.

For fans who want to keep living in the ringworld, there are only a couple of weeks before Halo: Parasite’s Wake is here.
