Frontier Airlines flight 2052 landed at
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) just after 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening, but a jet bridge malfunction left the passengers stuck in a powered-down airplane waiting for technical support. While the pilots departed, the travelers spent an hour in a dimly lit cabin as the temperature continued to climb before one flier reached their breaking point.
Video from flight 2052 shared on TikTok has gone viral, showing a woman in a gray hoodie screaming “open the door” and lunging towards the flight attendant at the forward cabin door. A flight attendant restrained the woman as she continued to scream, and another bystander yelled, “Don’t put your f***ing hands on her.”
There has not been a public release which detailed specifics of the incident on Tuesday. What is public knowledge is that flight 2052 was operated by one of the many Airbus A321neo single-aisle jetliners, specifically tail number N670FR, which compose the majority of the Frontier Airlines fleet, according to Flightradar24. That would put the maximum passenger count at 240 if the all-economy narrowbody was fully booked.
In the TikTok video of the incident on flight 2052, the poster added details in the comments, saying the outburst was severely worsening for travelers. The unnamed passenger claimed that another travelers began hyperventilating and shaking after 30 minutes of sitting on the plane with no air conditioning, water, or even light. They said that the woman had passed out and became unresponsive.

Locked In Without Power On The Ramp
Frontier flight 2052 arrived 20 minutes early from New Orleans and the initial jet bridge docking was successful, according to accounts online. That allowed the air crew to disembark after shutting down the engines and auxiliary power unit. The pilots were likely obligated to leave as soon as possible to prepare to fly their next departure or clock out to comply with crew rest protocol.
Normally, once a plane shuts down its engines at a gate, it relies entirely on a heavy electrical cord and a large yellow air tube attached directly to the physical jet bridge to supply power and AC. The mechanical failure caused the jet bridge to break away or misalign from the fuselage, which appears to have prevented the ground crew from safely connecting the external utility lines.
The plane had neither engine/APU power nor ground power, so it reverted to basic backup battery power. This kept emergency lights on but was not strong enough to run the heavy-draw compressor for air conditioning. That would also have left the Public Announcement system inoperable and prevented announcements. The cabin crew remained on board and worked with landside staff to keep passengers calm.
Frontier’s Take On The Flight 2052 Incident
In response to a request for comment from Simple Flying, Frontier said the jet arrived in ATL and began exiting when the mechanical malfunction occurred. The jet bridge became misaligned with the cabin door, forcing a halt to disembarkation. Full deplaning was not possible without a maintenance inspection to ensure the system was safe to use.
The airline claims staff kept passengers apprised of what was happening throughout the incident through announcements. Frontier also said it took 27 minutes to fully repair and reconnect the Jet Bridge to the aircraft. The carrier is still investigating the full scope of why this situation occurred. Frontier expressed apologies to the customers who were forced to endure the uncomfortable and inconvenient conditions.
