Leave it to Miu Miu and New Balance to bring some serious sneaker heat to the Paris Fashion Week runway.
In a very sporty Miu Miu show at the Palais D’Iéna in Paris on Sunday — where the set was turned into an arena with a purple track-inspired floor and bleacher seats — the longtime brand collaborators teamed up on the New Balance RC150, an under-the-radar racing sneaker from the 1990s.
Gigi Hadid and other models, including Billy Elliot actor Jamie Bell, walked in the look — which gets its name from the lightweight 150-gram design. Deconstructed in technical mesh, the style features contrast laces loosely knotted at the toe through external hoops. It has all the right ingredients to make it a must-have for spring, with its slim silhouette, retro color combinations and on-trend double-lacing.

The shoe fit right in with the vibe of the show. Miuccia Prada again transformed everyday gear into high-fashion pieces, like Hadid’s sports bra, worn backwards, and paired with an embellished skirt.
After receiving FN’s 2025 Collaboration of the Year Award, New Balance and Miu Miu continue to raise the bar with defining sneakers season after season.

Last month, for example, Miu Miu unveiled new iterations of the best selling New Balance 530 SL collaboration with the release of several styles, including a ballet-flat inspired version. And in June, the fashion brand released six new styles of the hit shoe in fresh materials and colors, which combined technical fabric bases with suede overlays and perforated leather. Coco Gauff continues to front the tie-up, and wore a special version of the Miu Miu x Coco Gauff New Balance 530 SL at Wimbledon this summer.
Appealing to the modern female consumer is a must for both New Balance and Miu Miu, and that’s a big reason why the labels stand out as two of the most successful fashion stories of the past few years.

“[Miu Miu] simultaneously stand for the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship and luxury but also are pretty fearless and bold with their trend forecasting and defining trends of the future,” said Chris Davis, New Balance global brand president and chief marketing officer, in 2025, when the pair received their FNAA honor. “And this duality represented our ambition in a way that could capture the female consumer globally, on-brand and authentically.”
Lorenzo Bertelli, who serves as Prada Group’s chief marketing officer and head of corporate social responsibility, also discussed his admiration for New Balance.

The sneaker popped on the runway in striking color combinations.

“[New Balance] has remained independent for over a century, which is rare in this industry. It allows them to think long-term, to prioritize integrity and quality over short-term objectives. That’s a philosophy we share at Prada Group, and it’s one of the reasons why this partnership feels so aligned.”
