If you’re like me, then you read the phrase “AI flat-iron” and rolled your eyes clean out of your head. I get it. Despite some interesting advancements in the beauty space (facial imaging, hyper-personalized in-office procedures, and the like), AI has become a bit of a marketing buzzword—an opportunity for brands to say, “Look! We’re with the times!” So when a beauty product does boast AI capabilities, I take a long, hard look and determine whether it’s doing, well, anything, or is simply riding the bandwagon.

All that to say, when I read about GHD Sculpt—a hair straightener with an AI micro-processor that learns your hair in real time and self-adjusts depending on your styling needs—I approached it with a healthy amount of skepticism. Okay, sounds neat, but is this some haircare hooey? Of course, I had to try it for myself to find out for sure. See below for my full review and how the technology plays out when it comes to real, at-home hairstyling.
