It’s a DC Studios origin story for two version of Batman’s Robin.
Logan Kim is also aboard.

It’s been a couple of years since we heard much about ‘Dynamic Duo,’ DC Studios’ animated origin story for two of the characters who have served as Robin to Batman in the comics.

Via The InSneider, we now know that ‘How to Train Your Dragon’s Mason Thames will be voicing Dick Grayson, while Logan Kim (‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’) will play Jason Todd.

And they’re not alone: Lee Pace (‘Practical Magic 2’) is on board to give voice to the leader of the villainous Red Hood Gang (more on how that ties in below), with Steve Buscemi as his lieutenant.

What’s the story of ‘Dynamic Duo’?

‘Dynamic Duo’ will divert from the comics canon and feature Grayson and Todd as orphans and childhood friends who are pulled apart by destiny. Grayson (as happens in the comics) is taken in by Bruce Wayne and becomes the Robin to his Batman, while Todd falls in with the criminal Red Hood Gang.

The movie’s planned to be made with a combination of computer animation, models and large-scale puppetry.

What else is happening with DC Studios?

Following the box office fizzle of ‘Supergirl’ hopes are higher for next year’s ‘Superman’ sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ with DC co-chief James Gunn back behind the camera.

‘Clayface’ is next up for the studio (on October 23rd) featuring a stalwart Batman villain in more complicated form, and staying with the Dark Knight, ‘The Brave and the Bold’ is also in development, telling the story of Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian Wayne, the fifth mainline Robin.

Other projects, meanwhile, including an Amanda Waller series and a look at Wonder Woman’s home island of Themyscira have been quietly shelved for now. But ‘Lanterns’ is getting good viewership and plenty of word of mouth for HBO.
