Publisher ININ has announced that it has effectively ‘relaunched’ R-Type Dimensions III with the release of a third major patch.
The latest patch primarily addresses boss fights in Advanced Mode, with changes to the design and patterns made to more closely align with the original game. As an apology, a digital artbook, previously only included as part of the Ultimate Edition on Steam, has been added to all platforms.
Previous patches addressed “a broad range of gameplay, collision, audio, and visual issues”, with a view to bring the experience closer to the original R-Type III: The Third Lightning. ININ considers this latest patch the final step in fixing the game, and as such is treating it as a fresh relaunch.
Obviously, it’s technically not, but let’s just humour the idea.
Regardless, this is good news, and it’s nice to see developers work toward addressing player feedback. Here’s a look at ININ’s message regarding the feedback and improvements:
“The past three months have been shaped in no small part by the R-Type community. Players who documented issues, tested builds, participated in the feedback process, and held ININ accountable have directly shaped the game today. That level of engagement – critical, knowledgeable, and consistent – has made a measurable difference in the many improvements.
“ININ extends its thanks to every player who took the time to report, discuss, and follow the progress of these updates.”
