Even if there’s a heatwave and she’s squeezed in the front row of a fashion show, Jennifer Lawrence will still put her bangs first.

The actress proved this to be true at the Dior spring 2027 presentation on Tuesday morning, where creative director Jonathan Anderson unveiled his latest collection to a crowd of eager editors, A-listers and house ambassadors at Bassin de l’Octogone in Paris.

Among the sea of observers was Lawrence and her freshly trimmed fringe. The “Silver Linings Playbook” lead popped against the stone backdrop, her wispy, honey- and caramel-colored bangs catching in the camera flash.

The length of her texture was noticeably shorter, just barely missing the measurements for micro fringe, a cut sworn by the likes of Greta Lee, Ayo Edebiri and Lawrence’s so-called look-alike, Dakota Johnson. The ends flitted out and folded centimeters above her brows, blending between the relaxed waves that moved over her shoulders.

This cut, while certainly a statement, wasn’t in stylists’ fringe predictions for fall. Speaking with a handful of hair artists, WWD determined the top three picks would be feathered fringe, curly fringe and curtain fringe.

Matthew Collins, Dyson Beauty global ambassador, guessed feathered fringe would replace standard full fringe cuts to add texture and dimension. “[Feathered fringe] will generally sit with their longest piece touching the bottom of your eyebrow, and is often styled with a micro part in the middle and a slight swoop to both outsides of the eye, often with slightly longer pieces hitting the tops of your cheekbones to accentuate them,” he said.

At the same time, Moe Harb, hair educator and cofounder of Beauty Club London, said curtain fringe isn’t going anywhere, but it is changing.

“It’s getting softer and blending more naturally into the haircut. I’m seeing longer curtain bangs, cheekbone-length pieces and wispy fringes rather than a very heavy block of hair across the forehead,” he told WWD, noting, “longer fringe is also much easier for someone who likes changing her hair. You can wear it forward, split it in the middle, sweep it to one side or incorporate it into a blowout. That flexibility is why I think longer, softer bangs will continue into fall.”

The hair architect responsible for trimming Lawrence’s texture on Tuesday has not yet been revealed. The actress did, however, recently collaborate with both Jacob Rozenberg and Chris Appleton.

Appleton took to his Instagram to share a close-up of the “butterfly bangs” he crafted for Lawrence earlier this month, tagging her makeup artist, Shayna Gold, in the comments, too. WWD reached out to both Rozenberg and Appleton to determine their involvement. Rozenberg’s team confirmed the artist was not responsible for this look.
