While punk rock could be considered a state of mind, Sombr practically embodied the old adage in a custom ERL fall 2026 ensemble while in attendance at the 2026 MTV VMAs held tonight in Los Angeles. The musician is nominated for the category “Song Of The Summer” for his track “Homewrecker.”

When it comes to red carpet occasions, the “Undressed” singer can often be found in rocker-esque outfits, a product of his grungy persona. The musician often goes sans-shirt for music festivals, opting instead for oversized outerwear reminiscent of looks one might see in the 70s from the music scene.

Whether for temperature control or to make a bold statement, Sombr went shirtless once again, this time with an oversized faux-fur coat featuring a jagged black-and-white striped pattern and exaggerated lapels.

On bottom, Sombr sported glossy leather slacks that sat low on his hips, affixed with a silver belt chain that provided texture. Creating more of a textural impact, the “My Body Isn’t Ready” singer layered on a slew of necklaces, some short, some long, some affixed with tassels and spikes or mother-of-pearl pendants.

Further accessorizing, the musician sported a black leather belt adorned with a bold buckle reading “SEX.” The accent was bedazzled, imparting a touch of shine to Sombr’s otherwise monochrome look.

Leaning into the rocker look, Sombr sported black leather boots, looking to be Chelsea style with sharp pointed toes and slightly shiny black leather uppers. Short block heels rounded out the angular set.

As for finishing touches, the “12 to 12” singer was made up in a grungy fashion featuring smudged black eyeliner that extended to his lids.

The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards returned to Los Angeles on Sunday at the Peacock Theater, marking the show’s first West Coast edition since 2017. Snoop Dogg hosts the ceremony, which airs live on CBS and MTV and streams on Paramount+. Madonna, this year’s most-nominated artist, is set to open the show, while Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award and Taylor Swift will be honored with MTV’s inaugural Artist Director Honors.
