Trump to attend Texas-Tennessee game as ticket prices fall

Tickets to Saturday’s top-ranked Texas-Tennessee matchup are getting noticeably cheaper just one day before one of college football’s biggest games of the season.

According to USA Today, the lowest-priced tickets for the SEC showdown at Neyland Stadium have fallen by nearly $100 since President Donald Trump announced plans to attend the game.

As of Friday, the least expensive ticket listed on Ticketmaster was $386 before taxes and fees.

Even after the price drop, getting into Neyland Stadium remains expensive.

According to Ticketmaster, Texas Longhorns home games typically range from about $200 to $900, while Tennessee Volunteers home games generally range from about $75 to $400. That puts the current $386 entry price near the high end of Tennessee’s typical range and within the usual range for Texas.

The matchup has drawn national attention, with ESPN’s “College GameDay” broadcasting from Knoxville and Trump’s expected attendance adding to the spotlight surrounding the game.

Texas and Tennessee kick off at noon Eastern (11 a.m. Central) on Saturday.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to arrive early because of increased security surrounding the president’s visit, which is expected to slow entry into Neyland Stadium. Stadium gates will open at 9 a.m. Eastern, three hours before kickoff.

The matchup features two of college football’s most recognizable quarterbacks, with Arch Manning leading Texas against Tennessee’s Faizon Brandon.

Texas enters its SEC opener undefeated after defeating UTSA 30-6 on Sept. 19. Earlier this month, the Longhorns also beat then-No. 1 Ohio State 24-23.

Tennessee also enters the game undefeated after opening the season with three straight victories.

Saturday will mark the fourth meeting between Texas and Tennessee. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 2-1, with the programs’ most recent meeting coming in the 1969 Cotton Bowl.
