EXPLORING IDENTITY: The work of photographer, filmmaker and art director Jordan Rossi is being celebrated in Milan with a solo exhibition at Galleria Rubin, and presented in Italy for the first time. Unveiled during Milan Fashion Week and curated by journalist Federico Poletti, the exhibition will be on view until Oct. 3.

Titled “Homecoming” because of Rossi’s Irish Italian roots, the exhibition explores themes of identity, representation, celebrity culture and the evolving language of contemporary masculinity.

Through his art, Rossi usually captures broader cultural shifts and generational transformations. Characterized by striking color palettes and graphic compositions, his images mix art, activism and popular culture.

“‘Homecoming’ has been an opportunity to stop and look at 15 years of work as a whole, which is something I’ve never really done before. I’m usually so focused on whatever I’m making next that I rarely look backward,” the artist said. “Bringing these images together made me realize how consistently I’ve been drawn to questions of identity, representation and the relationship between a photographer and their subject.”

“‘Homecoming’ is both a debut and a return to one’s roots: Jordan’s Italian Irish heritage has always been a driving force behind his artistic and personal exploration,” Poletti said.

“His photography merges the language of fashion with a powerful social perspective, transforming portraits of celebrities, musicians and leading figures of queer culture into a visual archive of a generation redefining identity, gender and representation. In his images, figures transcend celebrity to reveal authenticity and vulnerability.”

A central theme in Rossi’s work is the representation of masculinity and queer identity. His subjects include musicians, fashion personalities, actors and activists, among them Nicholas Galitzine, Lashana Lynch, Austin Abrams and Caleb McLaughlin.
