TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index wavered between up and down on Monday morning, while the U.S. markets were up as oil prices fell.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 21.97 points at 35,828.62 near midday.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 254.84 points at 51,937.48. The S&P 500 index was up 80.55 points at 7,731.05, while the Nasdaq composite was up 429.42 points at 26,951.97.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.33 cents US compared with 71.42 cents US on Friday.
The November crude oil contract was down US$4.23 at US$91.85 per barrel.
The December gold contract was down US$47.20 at US$4,377.70 an ounce.
