Canada co-hosts the 2026 2X Global Summit and announces funding for inclusive finance

Amidst a global economic crisis, women are still facing disproportionate financial barriers with less access to loans, training and services. Canada is leading the charge by bridging this gap and mobilizing resources to empower women for a more equitable and sustainable future.

From September 15 to 17, Global Affairs Canada, FinDev Canada and 2X Global partnered together to host the 2026 2X Global Summit to help address the financial inequalities faced by women  Held under the theme Grounded Capital, Global Partners, Canadian and international participants, 2X members and strategic partners, and representatives from  development and financial institutions are fostering financial, social and economic opportunities that support investment in gender equality, both at home and worldwide.

Today at the 2X Global Summit, the Honourable Randeep Sarai, Secretary of State (International Development), announced $110 million in funding  for gender lens investing across Latin America, Africa and the Indo-Pacific region. These loans provided by FinDev Canada will support economic growth by strengthening agricultural supply chains and access to banking services for underserved populations:

These funding announcements demonstrate Canada’s commitment to closing persistent gender financing gaps, strengthening women’s economic resilience, and creating a more equitable future for everyone.

While at the summit, Secretary of State Sarai emphasized the value of Canada’s partnership with 2X Global and underscored the importance of investing in women and girls, noting it’s transformative societal impact and mutual economic returns across all communities.
