Frontier Airlines Now Allowing Passengers To Cancel Any Flight Up To 24 Hours Before Departure

Frontier Airlines today announced that it is working with Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) to introduce the ‘Cancel for Any Reason’ product. Passengers will be able to cancel up to 24 hours before departure, receiving a refund for their ticket.

Passengers can opt into this AI-powered product at checkout, either through the airline’s booking website or app. The partnership also includes HTS’ ‘Disruption Assistance for Any Reason.’

What Is The Cancel For Any Reason Product?

Frontier Airlines latest booking product leverages customers’ increasing desire for additional flexibility, an attribute often sacrificed in low-cost aviation. Although available to all air passengers, the product will not come for free. Instead, you can pay extra for it during the booking process.

If you have paid for Cancel for Any Reason, you simply need to make Frontier Airlines aware that you would like to cancel and you can receive a full refund. The airline says that this refund will be quickly paid to the account or form of payment that you originally used to book your flight.

Bobby Schroeter, Chief Commercial Officer, Frontier Airlines, said:

“Giving customers more choice and flexibility is an important part of how we’re improving the Frontier experience. Cancel for Any Reason makes it easier to book with confidence, knowing that if plans change, customers have a simple and convenient option available to them.”

The Product Is Provided In Partnership With HTS

Frontier Airlines’ latest booking product has been developed in partnership with HTS, which is the business-to-business division of Hopper, a global travel platform. It helps major airlines, banks and travel brands to meet their fintech, AI and commerce needs. Partners working with HTS include the airlines Air Canada, Virgin Australia, and Frontier Airlines. TripAdvisor is a notable partner in the travel brand space, while the service also works with banks like Nubank, Lloyds Bank, and Commonwealth Bank.

A key differentiator for HTS is that it aims to bring AI into the travel industry. Cancel for Any Reason and many other products developed by HTS rely on AI to function. An example is HTS Assist, a fully autonomous AI travel agent. HTS says that this product improves response times, reduces costs and leads to higher upselling conversion results. Customers can interact with this product through both voice and chat.

The Partnership Also Includes Disruption Assistance For Any Reason

In July 2025, Frontier Airlines worked with HTS to become the first US airline offering Disruption Assistance for Any Reason. When passengers are hit by a “qualifying disruption,” they will receive an instant and automated solution. Such disruptions are typically a delay of over two hours or a same-day cancellation. Bobby Schroeter, Chief Commercial Officer at Frontier Airlines, said that the product is about giving passengers “more control, greater transparency, and added confidence every step of the way.”

Passengers also have to choose to opt in to Disruption Assistance for Any Reason, paying an additional fee to access the service. They’ll get automatic and proactive notifications relating to the disruption. They can also use the product to self-serve based on real-time options. Examples include booking an alternative flight on any airline or staying on Frontier to receive a full refund. Passengers flying into Canada or the European Union should be aware that those jurisdictions place additional legal obligations on carriers, as acknowledged by HTS. Such consumer protections may make the product not worth the cost in some circumstances.

The product was initially launched on the Frontier Airlines website only, with plans to expand it to the airlines’ mobile app when possible. Frontier Airlines says it has a 9/10 customer satisfaction rating for Disruption Assistance for Any Reason.
