Norma Kamali’s collection was made up of the sum of four parts: easy-to-wear pull-on tracksuits, feminine romantic layers, jeans and cutout bodywear.

Kamali even created her own rap song via AI to play over the collection’s look book. She said the lyrics — “Know thyself and dress the way you want to dress. Make that you, and not following somebody else” — spoke to how she continually designs her collections with the ingredients for ample mix-and-match wearability.

“I mean the song is silly, but the point is, while it’s a frivolous use of AI, we’re also using AI seriously for everything,” she said of using AI programs for organizational purposes, such as reworking her e-commerce, which now features the moving look book images of her fall campaign.

Kamali’s tracksuits, which are both selling well and the designer loves to wear, were styled with a mix of fringed crop tops, easy vests, little utility jackets and merch T-shirts displaying slogans from the designer’s book. On the opposite end, ample girly layers in shades of pale pink felt fresh via bias slip dressing, sheer shawl tops and soutache gowns and smocked peasant blouses.

Denim bottoms were a highlight, in black and white vegan leather, true blue denim and washed pink velvet. They came in her original Studio 54 silhouette from ‘77 alongside low-rise boot cut (said to debut shortly) and a slightly wider pair as well as a variety of cute skirts, tiny shorts and capris. Designed to span day to night, they looked great with simple black shirts with long trains or elongated sleeves, while her range of cutout black looks added a dash of sexy. The latter included bodysuits, swimsuits-cum-rashguards, and long slinky dresses that could be worn over catsuits for more coverage, or as Kamali proposed of the bodywear, to work out in.
