You can always rely on a European Layton cover to look a little overstuffed. The Spectre’s Call is no exception. This one sees our three protagonists looking shocked in the central window, as a pair of spooky eyes loom above them. The rest of the case is adorned with screenshots of the puzzles themselves, a healthy dose of text, and those adorable little Layton and Luke headshots that accompany the title.
North America / Japan
North America and Japan opted for very similar designs on this one, taking the hero art from the European design and making it the focal point of the whole box. We see much more of the image here, with a better look at the Misthallery backdrop, and those spooky phantom hands that creep in from the left and right.
It’s not quite as puzzle-stuffed, but there’s no denying that the full art rules.
