The Houston Texans got good news and bad news Friday ahead of their season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

The bad news is that rookie defensive tackle Kayden McDonald was placed on the reserve/injured list. The good news is that everyone else on the 53-man roster will be available.

Sunday’s game should be a good one, pitting two of the AFC’s top teams against each other.

Josh Allen won’t play nearly as poorly as he did in the past two meetings between these teams, but the Texans’ fully healthy defense will make things difficult. While I believe Allen will break through his Reliant Stadium woes one day, it won’t be Sunday.

Bills 24, Texans 23

Another close one between two of the AFC’s best. Josh Allen is the difference for Buffalo.

Whether in the regular season or playoffs, Houston has been a house of horrors for Josh Allen. The Texans begin the most anticipated season in franchise history by eking out another win over Buffalo with just enough offense and – what else? – ferocious defense.

This is the third straight year the Bills have come to Houston to play the Texans. And for the third straight year, the Texans beat the Bills.

Texans 21, Bills 20

Josh Allen has never looked elite against the Texans. He makes a late mistake in this one, and Houston starts 1-0.
