When news of Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 4 sneaker first surfaced in March, it included details about an alternate high-top version of the NBA star’s fourth signature shoe. And after July’s official Ja 4 reveal came and went without mention of a Ja 4 High, Morant himself has revealed the first look at the new model.
The newly minted Portland Trail Blazers star took to his Instagram stories Friday to share a look at the upcoming Nike Ja 4 in a bold University Red-based colorway. The in-hand look at the new model shares similarities with the speculative mock-up shared in March, but includes a number of previously unseen details.
The upper of the shoe is covered in triangular nodes throughout, reminiscent of the Nike Ja 3 and Nike Caitlin 1, while Morant’s signature Ja-Frame TPU wing doubles as spelling out his name while also giving the shoe structural stability. With a fully shrouded construction reminiscent of Nike classics such as the Zoom Flight 98 The Glove, the zipper closure on this red colorway features “call twelve” text. The medial side includes more subtle detailing, with text reading “I don’t only have motion where my feet at, it’s global” appearing on the A.

Tech specs behind the Nike Ja 4 High have not yet been revealed, but more information is expected to be revealed soon. It’s likely that the shoe will feature a comparable setup to the standard Ja 4, with the most discernible change being the addition of the high-top shroud.
Although the addition of a high-top model is a first for Morant’s signature line, the Trail Blazers standout has a history of playing in highs. “High top Kobes the rest of the year,” Morant tweeted following a 2020 ankle injury, and he made good on the promise, playing in both the Kobe 9 Elite and Kobe 10 Elite — both of which were coincidentally in red shades comparable to the Ja 4 High’s first look.
The Nike Ja 4 High will be released this holiday season for a retail price of $180 with availability from nike.com and select Nike Basketball retailers. The full colorway for the red-based style pictured here is University Red/Medium Olive/Bright Crimson/Cobalt Bliss/Black and its style code is IQ3864-600.
