Only 35 Minutes: British Airways’ 11 New Shortest Flights Revealed: See Flights Now

As the UK’s flag carrier, British Airways (BA) plays an important role in keeping the nation connected on a worldwide scale. Naturally, its longest routes are the ones that tend to make the headlines, but at the other end of the distance and duration spectrum, its shortest hops are also worth a look. With new routes added, it now has 11 that last 70 minutes or less.

As you might expect, the majority of this collection concerns domestic and short-haul international flights out of its various London bases. However, further afield, the Caribbean is also home to several of BA’s shortest flights, as the carrier operates one-stop routes that serve two of the region’s airports in one go.

During the winter 2026/27 season, which runs from late October to late March, BA’s shortest flight by duration will link Basseterre in Saint Kitts and Nevis with St John’s in Antigua. It takes just 35 minutes to fly from the former to the latter, on a Boeing 777-200ER that starts and ends its rotation at London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

The 777-200ER also serves two more short BA routes within the Caribbean that ultimately start and end in London. These will link Grenada (GND) and Tobago with Bridgetown in Barbados, and they respectively take just 45 and 50 minutes, with Barbados set to replace St Lucia as the stopover. The carrier commented on its network growth in a statement earlier this year.

“By adding new destinations and increasing service on high-demand routes, the airline is continuing to strengthen its global network and provide customers with greater connectivity through London to destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.”

Of course, the vast majority of BA’s flying is concentrated at London Heathrow Airport (LHR), and this is reflected by the fact that five of the carrier’s 11 shortest routes by scheduled block time this winter will either start or end at this hub. The quickest of these take just one hour, including the domestic hop from Manchester Airport (MAN) in the northwest of England back to Heathrow.

Since it is quicker to go from central London to central Manchester by train, this route is primarily aimed at passengers from the north connecting onto other BA flights at LHR. However, BA’s other hour-long route from Heathrow this winter, its new corridor to the British Crown Dependency of Guernsey (GCI), is more likely to attract standalone traffic. Both are served by Airbus twinjets.

Further afield, passengers flying down from Newcastle to LHR can expect a slightly longer block time of one hour and 10 minutes this winter. This is also the case for BA’s route from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to LHR, while those flying from Brussels can expect a quicker journey of one hour and five minutes. All three of these routes are also served by Airbus narrowbodies.

For flights in and out of London, BA’s shortest mainline route actually originates at LGW. It serves another destination in the Channel Islands, namely the British Crown Dependency of Jersey, with these A320-operated flights set to have block times of as little as 50 minutes this winter. According to ITV, this route restarted in 2024 after pausing during the pandemic.

BA’s other two shortest routes this winter originate not at Heathrow or Gatwick, but rather at London City Airport (LCY), its regional hub. From here, Embraer E190s operating under the BA Cityflyer brand link London to various European destinations, with Rotterdam being the closest. Block times on this route can be as little as 55 minutes, compared with just over an hour to Amsterdam.
