Anne Hathaway Pairs Fisherman Sandals With Double Denim at NYFW

Anne Hathaway brought fisherman sandals into the summer-to-fall stretch at New York Fashion Week on Thursday. The actress attended the Moncler Fifth Avenue flagship opening in New York City with her husband, Adam Shulman, wearing The Row’s black leather Capri Knotted Slides with a relaxed double denim ensemble.

Made from pebble-grained leather, the backless flats feature knotted straps, cutouts along the sides and toe and a flat round heel. The shoes may have been the most understated part of the Erin Walsh-styled outfit, but they made a strong case for one of fashion’s most useful transitional styles. With the seasons beginning to shift, Hathaway delivered an easy styling lesson for when the weather is unpredictable: wear a shoe that can do both.

Fisherman sandals sit somewhere between a classic sandal and a closed-toe shoe, making them particularly appealing for those in-between days when summer sandals feel too bare but a full shoe feels too heavy and hot.

For Hathaway, who is expecting her third child, the choice also feels especially well suited to her current approach to dressing. The actress has embraced a wide range of maternity looks and shoes, from glamorous gowns and heels to relaxed flats, kitten heels and sandals.
