CPL 2026, BT vs SLK 29th Match Match Report, September 06, 2026

Barbados Tridents 139 for 2 (De Kock 47*, Clarke 36*, Carter 32) beat St Lucia Kings 138 for 6 (K Pooran 37, Chase 34, Mujeeb 3-22, Sams 2-20) by eight wickets

Three wickets from Mujeeb Ur Rahman helped Barbados Tridents end a four-match losing streak with a comprehensive win over St Lucia Kings in Bridgetown. Tridents remain at the bottom of the CPL 2026 table after this result, but have a two-game advantage over Trinbago Knight Riders, who also have six points.

Mujeeb played a key, game-changing role for Tridents after they chose to field. He came on with Kings 51 for 1 at the end of the powerplay, took a wicket in his first over, and went for just seven runs in his first two.

Then, in his final over, the 19th of the Kings innings, he took out Charith Asalanka and Matthew Forde while giving up just four runs. His efforts, together with Daniel Sams’ 2 for 20, helped restrict Kings to 138 for 6.

Another factor behind Kings’ low total was the struggle that John Campbell endured at No. 3, facing 27 balls while scoring at less than a run-a-ball. It meant his team never gained any momentum through the top half of their innings despite Kamil Pooran’s 24-ball 37 and Roston Chase’s 28-ball 34.

The chase was straightforward, with openers Brandon King (22 in 20) and Zachary Carter (32 in 22) setting things up with a stand of 41.

The spinners then took two wickets in the space of 3.1 overs, but Rivaldo Clarke and Quinton de Kock, batting at No. 4, ensured there were no further hiccups, steering Tridents home with an unbroken third-wicket stand of 76 in 57 balls.

Clarke anchored from one end, scoring an unbeaten 36 off 34, while de Kock played his shots, hastening the finish with two fours and a six off Amari Goodridge in the 18th over. He ended on an unbeaten 47 off 31 balls, with three fours and two sixes.
