If you’re new here, I have a bit of a rug problem. Okay — maybe more than a bit. I’ve spent countless hours combing flea markets, vintage stores, and the quieter corners of the internet searching for rugs with soul. Rugs are one of those grounding elements in a home. They’re the first thing your feet touch in the morning, and the soft backdrop to so many of life’s everyday moments. When my husband and I traveled to Turkey and Morocco last year, I spent way too much time (and money) in rug shops. I even have a few hanging on our walls as art. 

That said, this season of life looks a little different. With a baby on the way and a recent move into a new house, I’ve found myself craving something neutral, cozier, and—most importantly — safe and made with natural materials for our main living space. 

I’ve wanted a rug that is beautiful and breathable and something that will hold up to everyday chaos while being safe for tiny hands and feet (and our pup’s paws!). Here are my thoughts on the brand, the rug, and how it’s held up in our home.

They use natural materials like wool, jute, cotton, and hemp, alongside nontoxic dyes and low-VOC finishes—an especially welcome detail for parents and pet owners (hi, it’s me!).

As for the rug I chose, I went with the Halo Flatweave in the 9×12 size, which retails for $899. It’s handwoven from a blend of hand-carded New Zealand and European wool on a sturdy cotton foundation, finished with a delicate 3″ hand-knotted fringe. The muted blue-grey tones shift beautifully throughout the day—sometimes leaning cool, sometimes warm—which makes it feel right at home in our little bungalow backhouse by the beach. It also ships free with easy returns. While Revival recommends pairing it with a rug pad for extra cushioning, we’ve found it plenty comfortable on its own for our space.

Rolling out the rug

When the rug arrived, it came in a sturdy cardboard box with zero plastic in sight — a small but meaningful detail that immediately signaled Revival’s commitment to sustainability. Inside, the rug was neatly folded and heavier than I anticipated, which I took as a good sign. This wasn’t a flimsy, mass-produced piece; it had substance, weight, and care behind it. The texture felt clean, sturdy, and fresh from the start, like something that had been made thoughtfully, not rushed through a factory.

Getting the 9×12 in place was definitely a two-person job. My husband helped me maneuver it under the couch and coffee table, and we were both impressed by how effortlessly it laid flat, with almost no curling at the corners. No wrestling, no weighted books needed—just instant ease. And instantly, the space felt more grounded and complete. Isn’t it amazing how a really good rug can do that?!

My thoughts after living with Revival for 60 days

Now that we’ve lived with our Revival rug for a couple of months, I can confidently say: I’m officially a fan. The rug is everything I hoped for — beautiful, durable, and refreshingly low-maintenance. The tightly woven wool fibers don’t trap dog hair the way high-pile rugs do, and my vacuum glides over it effortlessly. Spot cleaning has been easy, and I haven’t noticed any snags or pulls thanks to the flatweave construction.

Despite regular foot traffic (and the occasional takeout spill), it still looks as good as the day we unrolled it. While it’s not the plushest rug out there, it’s soft enough for lounging, and I can already picture lying out blankets for tummy time with my daughter in the months ahead.
