Authorities in Manhattan on Monday afternoon shot a woman near Times Square after she allegedly slashed at least two people, city officials told NBC News.
The officials said the woman was armed with at least one knife.
The conditions of the suspect and victims were not immediately known, according to the officials.
Authorities are investigating the woman’s mental health history, the officials said.
They said the stabbings, which happened near the tourist-heavy at West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue, do not appear to be a terrorist act.
The New York City Police Department told people to avoid the area because of a police investigation.
