Gayle King & Naomi Osaka Stylishly Play Table Tennis at Baccarat Event

Naomi Osaka and Gayle King challenged each other to a game of table tennis while at Petit Slam, a Baccarat event, held in New York on Aug. 27. The pair were styled in contrasting footwear, while their outfits seemed to mirror one another.

Osaka’s footwear game was classic, comprised of what looked to be black suede pumps. The shoes featured sharp pointed toes and jet black suede uppers. While her shoes were eclipsed beneath her pants, it’s likely the style ended with stiletto heels, another classic detail that makes for a sleek and sexy pump.

The pro tennis star often opts for stilettos attached to colorful footwear choices like sandal heels or mules. Some of her most striking footwear moments have hailed from brands like Bottega Veneta, Manolo Blahnik, Sophia Webster and Amina Muaddi, among others.

Opting for a less classic option, King sported metallic silver sneakers. The sparkling style featured glitter uppers that transitioned into platform soles in white with matching cotton white laces. Metallic sneakers seem to be a favorite of the television anchor’s wardrobe. Last we caught up with her, the reporter was styled in metallic silver sneaker heels from Sneex.

The inventive silhouette is said to feature all the comfort of a regular sneaker, but with a little extra drama thanks to the added heel. That experimental footwear, founded by Sara Blakely, produces its shoes in Spain and Italy using napa leather and Italian mesh. The line of heels meets sneakers landed on Oprah’s Favorite Things within months of release.

Mirroring the look of King’s footwear, Osaka sported a metallic silver pleated top with a mock neckline and no sleeves. The textural piece was paired with dark wash boot-cut jeans. The look was playful and bold, facets of the tennis player’s usual styling. King sported a crisp all-white look consisting of a tank top tucked into tailored white trousers with pleating down the front. The journalist’s look was preppy and simple, breathable enough to play a round of table tennis in.
