Most of northwestern Indiana now has power restored 13 days after storms


Most residents of northwestern Indiana now have power roughly two weeks after a powerful storm uprooted trees and felled power lines on Aug. 11. Still, some remain without it.

According to numbers released by Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO) on Tuesday, 3,319 customers did not have power, including 711 as a result of the storm. The power company said it expects to restore power to residents in Gary, Portage and Lake Station by midnight.
