As usual, the number of games coming out really picks up pace as we slide into the latter months of the year. September and October are looking packed, and there’s still a bunch labelled “TBA 2026” which need to slot in somewhere. Some will surely slip into next year, but be prepared for more big names slotting into the schedule before the holidays.

August brings big hitters from the likes of Bethesda, Konami, and From Software, with September seeing a brand-new Onimusha, a couple of long-awaited ports, and two Switch 2 exclusives in the form of the co-op Orbitals and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Larvely!

New Switch 1 & 2 Games for August and September 2026

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – August 11th (Switch 2)

The surprise here is that this is the full game on a real cartridge if you go physical, not the code-in-a-box that was previously announced. Hurrah!

We’re looking forward to seeing if Bethesda can manage another port of Indiana Jones’ quality on Switch 2 or if that was entirely down to MachineGames’ magic.

After so many years out in the cold, it’s still a novelty to see Madden on a Nintendo system. Following on from last year’s entry, EA is kindly waiting until the World Cup is over so we Europeans don’t get our footballs mixed up.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 – August 27th (Switch 1 & 2)

The second batch of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid collections arrived bearing MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, MGS: Peace Walker (the HD Collection version), and — for anyone who buys the Collection rather than the previous two games separately — the Game Boy Color’s MGS: Ghost Babel (just plain old Metal Gear Solid as it was known outside Japan.

Kept you waiting, huh?… Hang on, wrong game.

Yes, following a delay from last year, Elden Ring is finally dropping on Switch 2. Not much to say, really. It’s one of the games of the generation, finally on a Nintendo platform. Fingers crossed it’s a quality port, because we already know the game itself is a bit special.

This edition includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC plus some customisation options for your horse. Hey, for $80, we’ll take what we can get. Also, this is another Game-Key Card.

Orbitals – September 3rd (Switch 2)

A fantastic-looking co-op and a Switch 2 exclusive, Jim Norman of this parish enjoyed his hands-on time with the game a few weeks back, so we’ve got high hopes that the final product is as engaging.
