Saba Javed is now the deputy director of communications for New Democrats.

Javed has held several communications role within the party, including director of communications for the Yukon NDP and press secretary for the Saskatchewan NDP.

She also briefly served as a speechwriter to Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew.

Meanwhile, John McKenna is stepping down as director of operations for the Liberals after three years in the role.

“When I joined three years ago, I was told that the Liberals were walking into certain defeat in the next election. What I found was the hardest working team in politics that was more focused on grassroots engagement, building an election team and path forward for Canada, than listening to polls and pundits,” McKenna wrote in a post on LinkedIn.

“It’s a privilege to work so closely with dedicated staff, MPs, and of course the volunteers that are the heart of our movement,” he wrote.

Before joining the federal Liberals in 2023, McKenna spent four years in policy advisor roles with the Ontario government.
