Bayern Munich legend reveals club’s stance on Real Madrid target: ‘I know what they think…’

The only news grabbing all the headlines in Madrid currently is the saga of Michael Olise and his potential transfer from Bayern Munich.

When Florentino Perez recently used the player’s name as a clever part of his presidential campaign against Enrique Riquelme, not much was made of the possibility.

Now, however, word has it that Olise is pushing for the deal himself. Given how highly Perez rates the player, it is very possible that the Merengues squeeze water from stone.

Bayern Munich legend spills his tea

German national team and Bayern Munich great Lothar Matthaus was recently asked to comment on the situation between Olise and Real Madrid and what his inside sources conveyed on the same.

The legendary footballer admitted that Real Madrid’s lure may have gotten to Olise but maintained that the Bavarians would not negotiate a departure, let alone sanction one.

“Personally I can understand that one wants to play for Real Madrid. But Bayern won’t even consider negotiating. The headlines will only make them laugh,” he said, as quoted by AS.

The German great then went on to reveal how important Bayern Munich consider Olise to be and how absurd it was to think that the player could leave this summer.

“From Spain and from France I have not heard anything. But I know what Bayern thinks about Olise.”

“Bayern Munich doesn’t even consider selling Olise. Rather, they have the idea of renewing his contract again and increasing his salary,” he added.

Player vs club

What the reports make clear is that there are two clearly opposing forces in play internally at Bayern Munich, both trying to suppress the other.

The club themselves are completely opposed to Olise leaving and maintain that they will not negotiate irrespective of the fee on offer. After all, he is one of the world’s highest-rated players and a critical part of their future plans.

On the opposing side, however, is Olise himself who has fallen into Real Madrid’s flirtations and is obsessed with the hypothetical transfer.

The player dreams of the move and sees this as the right time to take the next step in his career. The coming weeks will thus prove to be decisive.
