James Taylor: Yorkshire sign Surrey seamer on three-year deal from 2027

Yorkshire have signed seamer James Taylor on a three-year deal from Surrey.

The 25-year-old will join the White Rose ahead of the 2027 season, having spent seven years at the Oval.

Taylor, who came through Derbyshire’s youth ranks, has taken 41 wickets for Surrey in 19 first-class appearances.

“At this stage of my career, I felt it was the right time to take on a new challenge,” he said., external

“Yorkshire have shown a lot of belief in me, and I’m looking forward to repaying that faith by contributing as much as I can to the team.

“Hopefully I can help the club compete for trophies over the next few seasons and continue to develop my game.”

Taylor made his senior debut for Derbyshire against a touring West Indies team in 2017 and went on to join Surrey in 2020.

He made his Surrey debut against Middlesex in that summer’s Bob Willis Trophy and helped them win the County Championship three seasons in a row between 2022 and 2024.

“Despite numerous conversations over the last twelve months, which included a contract offer, we fully appreciate James Taylor’s decision to move to Yorkshire,” Surrey’s director of men’s cricket Alec Stewart said., external
