When it comes to shoe trends, Beatriz de los Mozos, CEO and founder of the shoe brand Flabelus, firmly believes that one shouldn’t have to sacrifice comfort for style. Yet before de los Mozos was evolving the way we wear shoes, her career actually began in the world of law.
After earning a law degree followed by a master’s in comparative politics, she launched her career practicing law in London. She later joined a legal startup as sales manager and senior legal expert, where she played a key role in scaling the business over several successful years. Her trajectory shifted dramatically due to a personal health challenge. Diagnosed with scoliosis, de los Mozos received orders from her doctor to stop wearing her favorite shoes. Refusing to sacrifice style for comfort, she envisioned footwear that could deliver both. This idea became the foundation for Flabelus, blending the casual elegance of Italian furlanes with the traditional comfort of Spanish espadrilles.
Determined to bring her concept to life, de los Mozos launched a Kickstarter campaign. She partnered with a Spanish factory to produce the unique hybrid designs, and Flabelus was born. What started as an online-only venture quickly gained traction among consumers seeking stylish yet supportive shoes. In just five years, the brand has achieved remarkable growth. Flabelus expanded from digital sales to physical retail and is now available in over 700 stores across 54 countries. The company has also developed a growing network of flagship boutiques, strengthening its global presence and reputation for comfortable, fashionable footwear.
