As someone whose closet colour palette is 95% black, even my head gets turned by white summer outfits. In this unusually sweltering British summer heat and whilst away on holiday surrounded by a sea of all-white outfits in Greece, I’ve found myself tempted on more than one occasion this year to replace the all-black ensembles I usually wear for looks comprised only of this lighter hue.

Visually, all-white outfits are refreshing and reminiscent of ice-cold things (think: vanilla ice cream, curving snow drifts and frost-tinged fields), which are always useful to think about when you’re trying to stay cool. It may be a trick of the mind, but white absorbs less heat, too, so it only makes sense to have a list of chic white ensembles you can turn to all summer.

You may wear nothing but white dresses from the early days of June through to the long yawn of August. Or perhaps you’re a fan of long shorts and tailored trousers. Maybe your summer capsule is a diverse mix of all of these. Either way, this list is for you. It’s easy to assume that with the colour already decided, you’re limited for options, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
